Meet Dr. Kristine Pickwith

About Me

I’m Dr. Kristine Pickwith (she/her), a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33158) and the owner of Heart Strings Therapy. I work with adults navigating grief, major life transitions, and the challenges of chronic health conditions. Whether you're adjusting to a medical diagnosis, mourning the loss of a loved one, or feeling unmoored after a breakup, therapy can be a space to process, heal, and move forward in a way that feels authentic to you.

My work is deeply shaped by my values—justice, compassion, humility, authenticity, and a connection to nature. These aren’t just ideals; they guide how I show up in the therapy room and how I support my clients through their most difficult seasons.

My Approach

Therapy isn’t about me having all the answers—it’s a collaborative process where we explore what’s working, what’s not, and what’s possible. I see you as the expert on your life, and my role is to offer guidance, insights, and tools that align with your experiences and values.

In our sessions, we’ll focus on:

  • Creating a Safe Space: Your emotions, experiences, and struggles deserve to be seen and understood—without judgment.

  • Practical Tools for Life’s Challenges: We’ll find strategies that help you manage unpredictability, navigate grief, and build resilience. This could mean creating routines that prioritize your well-being, learning grounding techniques for moments of overwhelm, or discovering ways to reconnect with the things that bring you joy.

  • Moments of Connection and Joy: Even in the midst of heaviness, we’ll work toward uncovering small moments of self-compassion and peace

My Background & Training

My experience in medical hospitals and mental health clinics deepened my understanding of the mind-body connection and how emotional and physical health intertwine. Clients I’ve worked with often share that they feel more grounded, supported, and equipped to navigate their lives after our sessions.

I’m also a Certified Compassionate Bereavement Care Provider through the MISS Foundation, which means I have specialized training in supporting individuals through:

  • Bereavement after the loss of a loved one

  • The ongoing heartbreak of caring for a loved one with dementia

  • Traumatic grief that feels too heavy to process alone

  • The end of significant relationships or transitions that bring unexpected sorrow

Clients I’ve worked with often share how they feel more grounded, supported, and equipped to handle life’s challenges after our sessions.

I’d love to help you feel the same.
